  14. The crew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery was awakened
  15. this morning just prior to 1 a.m. central time to the sounds
  16. of the United States Coast Guard Hymn, honoring mission
  17. specialist Bruce Melnick and the Coast Guard bicentennial.
  18.  
  19. Crew commander Dick Richards and Discovery pilot Bob Cabana
  20. have a busy day on the flight deck to look forward to with a
  21. number of orbital maneuvers planned to support a variety of
  22. test objectives and continued SSBUV operations conducted by
  23. Melnick and mission specialist Tom Akers.
  24.  
  25. Mission specialist Bill Shepherd will team with Melnick to
  26. perform the second of three planned demonstrations of the
  27. Voice Command System, continuing to explore the effects of
  28. microgravity on voice characteristics and the viability of
  29. voice recognition commanding systems in space.
  30.  
  31. All systems aboard Discovery continue to function without
  32. flaw, leaving the crew and flight controllers in Houston to
  33. concentrate all efforts on the science and research
  34. objectives of the mission.
